Where Do We Go From Here?
What does it all mean?
Throughout this study I have been looking for the benefits of ritual and though this study has come to an end the search is far from over. This study has shown the potential for ritual to set up a safe, confident, upressured space where the brain can become open to creativity, but the potential only. One of the limitations of this study has been its small sample size in a department that lacks optimal diversity. For this reason further inquiries need to be made into the experiences of a more diverse population. Without this no true insight into ritual's relationship with creativity can be gained.
However, what this study has given us is a starting place and a vocabulary for further studies. Hopefully, it has also sparked curiosity and will spark discussion among all of us about how we create and how we use ritual. This discussion is vital to the progress of thought on creativity. Indeed, another limitation on this study is who is talking about creativity and the sources I was able to find during a concentrated amount of time. To help mitigate this there is a forum on this site where you can share your personal experiences and thoughts as well as articles and books you have encountered that I missed that have informed your opinion.
It is my hope that this study will continue either through my own work or through the work of others to further develop our understanding of the relationship between creativity, the unpressured artist, and ritual.
